The Gulf of America Weather Research Center seeks to find answers to the complex questions involved in forecasting the weather on the Gulf Coast.

The Gulf of America Weather Research Center specializes in building the future of numerical weather prediction with a particular emphasis on finding answers to the greatest challenges of making forecasts for the Gulf Coast. This includes conducting research and taking observations to increase the overall precision of deterministic guidance for tropical cyclones, severe weather, sea-breeze fronts and occasional outbreaks of frozen precipitation. By focusing on projects which aim to increase atmospheric sampling and create more effective weather models, we can drastically improve the quality of forecasts and remove much of the uncertainty from medium- and long-range weather outlooks.
